Heya everyone!
I recently unintentionally gained a ton of readers from posting that one picture on Dannychoo.com. Welcome to all you new readers! I’m really feeling the pressure to impress now :P. Well in any case, I recently acquired a figure from Comic Toranoana, and I decided to take a few pictures of her to share it all of you. I don’t have a light or anything special, so I’m experimenting with creative ways to use my room lighting as photo lighting. I don’t think it turned out so great, but tell me what you think in the comments.
This particular figure is based on the DVD cover of the Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou Live DVD, which was a concert hosted by all the voice actors of the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu anime. Haruhi is 1 of the three figures based on this cover, the other two being Mikuru and Yuki. I have intentions to fill in the whole set!

I tried my hardest to use the existing light as a spotlight as if she's going on stage, but this just looks weird
This is the first time I’ve ever tried to photograph a figure well, but gosh maybe it is impossible without proper lights. I tried all sorts of funky methods including covering up my room lighting in certain places to try and get concentrated light, but the lighting is still too uniform. Maybe I need to cheat and use some digital editting :P. Anyway, I should run off to sleep, got work tomorrow! Can’t wait to see what you all think.

She costs 7,020 yen in Japan. I’m not sure how much she would cost overseas.

lights will definitely make or break your photo session ^^; or, if you don’t have proper lighting, a tripod will do wonders because it will allow you to use extremely long exposure times to compensate for the lighting. at least, that’s been my experience. that said, i think you shots came out pretty nice!
can’t wait for mine to arrive! james’ review of yami got me all excited for her, and now yours has me on edge for haruhi (and sad i didn’t order the rest of the gang… still not sure that’s another investment i want to make thou ^^;;)… luckily both yami and haruhi are in the mail ^^

I really should get a tripod, but I just can’t think of enough long term use for it. Though the number of cases where I wish I was using one keeps increasing :P.

Nice shoot even though your missing a some lighting…
Use a tri pod for these shoots as it makes things a lot easier and when using a tripod…turn down the shutter speed as well…it helps…

I wish I could turn down the shutter speed, but alas I don’t have enough light already. However, my pictures are pretty sharp, and there isn’t any blur from my shaky hands so far.
