Odaiba Gundam

25 08 2009

I went to meet up with a friend the other day in the hopes of easing his culture shock.  It was a complete disaster as I was late and he got on the wrong train and we failed at meeting up.

However, we did manage to see one thing together, the Gundam.  There’s been like 10 bazillion shots of this thing already, but I thought I might as well add mine to the pool.

There’s a huge crowd that gathers around the Gundam, as the Gundam is part of a larger festival.  There are all sorts of food stalls including matsuri main stays such as yakisoba, takoyaki, etc.  Out in front, there was a line for people to walk underneath the Gundam, touch it, and gain a sense of scale.

The feet are about as tall as a person.

There's a huge crowd surrounding the Gundam. People take pictures with everything from $2,000 cameras to cellphones.

Well that’s it for my Gundam post.  I guess I failed at making my pictures better than the rest of the pool out there, but I tried :D.  Until next time!

That’s fine…considering you had to do it on a cloudy day, it’s actually quite well done ^_^
Now to strap a nuclear engine and it should be ready for it’s first mission!

😛 Gundams in Seed and Seed Destiny used batteries, and 00 used magic dust! No nuclear reactors!

But, but… the RX-78-2 uses a Minovsky nuclear engine. Pay homage to the original design and let’s wait for the clean nuclear engine to be developed…

I think the funny captions more than made up for any shortcomings the photos themselves might possess.

And man, that thing really is huge!

It is positively huge :). A real sight to behold.

It’s pretty much changed the way I watch Gundam as well.

Never did get to see the Gundam’s feet in person. At the time, I could just barely make them out through the construction fencing.

Maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll delay taking the Gundam down a few days after August 31st.

Nice to see more photos of this beast. I’m still dreading over the fact that I can’t see it in person. 😦
