I lost count of which round of food posts it was, but I think round 5 or 6. In any case, I just got back from a trip to Ise Jinguu and on the way I had some Ise udon which is a famous dish from the area.
The udon usually comes with a rice bowl of sorts too. I picked a seafood bowl but there are others as well. Warning though, the bowl is super super fishy. If you’re not really into fish, you should avoid it.
As for the udon! Concentrated soy sauce and sweet Japanese cooking sake are used to create a black broth which is poured over thick, handmade noodles. The common way to eat it is to add only chopped spring onion and red pepper as seasonings and mix it well in the bowl.
And in the back there are two giant clam-ish shellfish things too. They were also delicious :). All this for only 1,780 yen!
I’ll get to work on my photo post once I’m done pdeng, sigh…
Until next time!
if i’m really into fish, and the seafood bowl is really really fishy, why would i avoid it?
I was thinking the exact same thing. =)
haha, great minds think alike? =3
But I’m really into fish too…why must we avoid it T_T
Because I was half asleep when I typed it and made a typo that has now been fixed :(.
Wow, PDEng must have been really conscious draining for you…go sleep earlier next time ^_^
I think this is the longest reply chain in any of your blog entries to date Aaron. =)
Certainly longest reply chain, but not the most replies 😛
The shrimp in the second photo looks like its still alive O,O
I love eating anything that moved sometime during its lifetime XD
What is the chopped spring onion called in Japanese? Cause I hate those. =.=;
Negi :P. Aka.. Hatsune Miku’s item of choice haha.
I hate raw green onions. but don’t mind them cooked or fried. like with eggs
I love green onions in any form really. Especially raw with bean paste.
I grew up disliking it so it will be hard to try to like it.
Too bad one of Miku’s favorite things is one of the things I can’t take. T.T
:”( That’s too bad. They don’t really have much flavor though.
I love green onions! So delicious!
I thought the highest you will spend on a meal is 1500yen…you went over…
Still, looks good…might try it..someday…
It’s only 200ish yen, he can just skip rolling some gashapons at the nearest capsule station to make up to just a bit lower than 1500yen price meal.
Those look great. I love Japanese udons. I’ll try to eat at more udon places next time I visit Japan.
I WANT!!!!
