Heya I’m back with my second ever figure shoot! Given that these three Gekisou figures were supposed to have been released during 3 consecutive months and Haruhi had been delayed by a month, I had expected Mikuru to be delayed until May. However, I got a call from Tora no ana saying that my preorder had arrived last Friday to my surprise. Well, glad to have her earlier than expected!
I took a page out of Dannychoo’s book and decided to use my computer monitor as a background for the figure. Unfortunately, my macbook pro is rather small so it turned out to be not so great of an idea. In any case, this figure is fairly great, but it simply doesn’t live up to the same level as Haruhi’s Gekisou. I’m not a fan of figure reviews since a lot of it is up to personal taste, so judge the figure for yourself. In any case, hit the jump for more pictures!
The gekisou figures use very small boxes. Smallest 1/8 figure box I have seen so far.

A warning to those looking to purchase her, Mikuru is a one legged figure. Unfortunately, my area of expertise is in thermoplastics and PVC that is used to make figures is a thermoset plastic, so I cannot tell you if she will become a leaner. However, she does look sturdy enough.
Her ankle looks like it's in a somewhat painful position.
Her face does look incredibly charming though.

She has a ribon to tie everything down in the front, and a transparent underskirt.

GrI really should have dusted off Haruhi first. She's been on my desk for only a few weeks and she's become like this.
I know my shots aren’t very good, but I tried the best I could with the given lighting. I don’t even have a tripod :(. Any suggestions on improving my shots would be much appreciated!

Haha quite. Yuki is due next month, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get them all in the same shot without some difficulty.

You really should get Mikuru, she’s really great. I honestly think Nagato is the weakest of the bunch.

Haha I dusted her off properly afterward. I will make sure to dust off my figures more often. I had no idea dust collects on them so fast.
Hrm… something seems off in those monitor-as-backdrop shots… Maybe if you’re using it, you should balance the backlight with more light from in front (maybe a fill-flash? Or just a desklamp). Or maybe it’s the colors of the picture…
Or, perhaps if you treated your monitor as illumination and killed the rest of the lights… that could be cool (side-illuminate using color, white…)
Be creative! Take pictures from unusual angles of unusual things or unusual parts of things. You’re experimenting well with shots here, but you can do more.
I thought they looked quite good. I’m don’t quite understand what you mean by them being “off”. I thought about the lighting issue in front, the background is overexposed :(. Unfortunately, the only light I have is the flash on my camera and that’s too strong for a portrait.
I also tried using the monitor as illumination and the results turned out really weird :P. I need a tripod to be able to them properly I think.

Her leg is somewhat curved in an awkward position, but if you pose her right, it doesn’t look so bad.
